Dan Ogren It would be payable. However, in situations where a client is only billed for scheduled time and caregiver needs to be paid extra time, we would need a visual indicator that the billable time is different than what's displayed (which is payable).
What we currently do in WS is create a new shift for the extra time and have that as non-billable but payable. The shift on the calendar will also include a note icon that's currently used both as a visual indicator and a reference to understand the reason why the shift was added and is non-billable.

Mikko Jervoso thanks for the background. Because billable and payable times can be independently managed, you will not be needing to create new shifts for un-billable time.
Follow up question / proposal for you before we get started on this:
In workspace settings, you can default billable and payable time collection to: Scheduled, Actual or Recorded.
We have many views where we render shifts:
Primary Nav > Shifts > Table View
Primary Nav > Shifts > Calendar View with an additional toggle to view the calendar by Care Recipients or Employees
Employee Profile > Schedule Tab > List View
Employee Profile > Schedule Tab > Calendar View
Care Recipient > Schedule Tab > List View
Care Recipient > Schedule Tab > Calendar View
Proposal:
Display "Billable Time" (as per Workspace Settings) on all Care Recipient shift views.
Display "Payable Time" (as per Workspace Settings) on all Employee shift views.
Example:
If Workspace Settings configure both Billable and Payable time to "Recorded Time":
Care Recipient views: Show "Billable Recorded Time" on all completed shifts
Employee views: Show "Payable Recorded Time" on completed shifts
If the billable or payable times are edited, they would appear accordingly, on the shift depending on what you edited, and what view (client or employee) you are looking at.
Does this make sense? Will it work for you?

Dan Ogren This solution would require us to configure our settings to be both set to recorded time?
What if we need this setting?
Care Recipient - Scheduled
Employee - Recorded
And we still wanted for both calendars to reflect recorded time even if part of it is not billable?
The issue with not displaying the recorded time on the care recipient profile is if someone is only looking at client schedules, there will be nothing that tells them that additional un-billable time have been worked and will need to be paid unless they open the shift page.
We need to better understand why we would need the scheduled time to be displayed on one calendar and recorded time on another.

Mikko Jervoso: Correct, what I proposed would display the workspace time setting for Billable and Payable time.
If Payable is set to Recorded time, you would see recorded times whenever looking at completed shifts on an employee schedule view.
If Billable is set to Scheduled time, you would see Scheduled time whenever looking at completed shifts on a care recipient schedule view.
It was just a proposal to see if that made sense. Keep in mind that we have a dedicated view for Billing > Items and are currently working on a dedicated view for Payroll > Items so you would also see the times reflected in those views, specific to the billing or payroll use case.
Transparently, this approach would create a more consistent design throughout our shift views.
Client shift views = Billable Time
Employee shift views = Payable Time
We are trying to avoid a potentially confusing scenario where someone looking at Client Shifts is seeing Payable Time.
One other thing to note– aside from the default display of times on shifts:
We're exploring ways to make both payable and billable time information easily accessible, when hovering over a shift, regardless of the current view.
For example, while viewing a shift on the client's schedule (which displays billable time – scheduled), hovering would reveal Clock In/Out times for both Payable and Billable hours. This feature will help users quickly identify any discrepancies between the two. Additionally we could possibly have some kind of note included by the user that made the edit.
Let me know your thoughts. Don't take this as pushback– just wanted to provide some more background on our thinking.

Mikko Jervoso Lawrence Kihanya after a shift is completed, you can modify billable and or payable times independently. Which time would you want to see on completed shifts if someone edited the times and there was a deviation in the two sets of time? Billable or Payable?
