Available in the latest CareSwitch caregiver app for iOS and Android. Caregivers should update their app to access these changes.
This update gives caregivers more control over notifications and conversations, adds expense tracking, and makes it easier to move between back-to-back shifts. It also introduces App Lock and another way to receive sign-in codes.
Express interest in open shifts
In workspaces that use Express Interest, caregivers can tap I’m Interested on an open shift instead of claiming it immediately. If another caregiver is selected, they’ll receive a notification when the shift is filled.

App Lock for added security
When your workspace enables App Lock, caregivers returning after the configured timeout must unlock the app using their device’s biometrics or passcode. If their device has no screen lock configured, they’ll be asked to sign in again.
Choose which notifications to receive
In Settings → Notifications, caregivers can turn email and push notifications on or off and choose which notification types they want to receive.

Filter the notification inbox
New Unread and All filters help caregivers focus on new notifications or review their full notification history.

Hide conversations
Caregivers can hide conversations from their main chat list and find them in a Hidden Conversations folder. The folder appears after the first conversation is hidden and shows the number of hidden conversations and unread messages.

Conversations can be unhidden at any time. Office staff can still contact caregivers, and notifications continue as usual.
Note:
Public channels cannot be hidden.

More ways to use Chat on Android
  • Take a photo directly from the Chat message box.
  • Start a new conversation from the Chat tab, matching the option already available on iOS.
  • Press and hold a conversation to access View info, Leave, Mute, and Hide.
Receive sign-in codes by email
If text messages aren’t arriving, caregivers can select Not getting texts? Use email instead on the Sign In screen to receive their code by email.

Add and manage shift expenses
Caregivers can add, edit, and delete their own expenses through the new Expenses row in shift details. Travel time and mileage appear first, followed by expense types your office allows caregivers to enter.
Each expense can include a note and photos. A Forgot a receipt? reminder appears while the shift is still editable, and retrying a save on a weak connection no longer creates a duplicate expense.

Move smoothly between back-to-back shifts
For back-to-back shifts with the same client, caregivers can clock out of one shift and go straight into the next using Start next shift now. Starting early requires a reason and follows your agency’s earliest allowed start time.
Fixes & Reliability
  • Corrected shift times: When the office adjusts a caregiver’s times after a shift, the completed shift now shows those corrected times in the app.
  • Android Chat: Chat no longer gets stuck loading after the app is unlocked or a notification is tapped.
  • Android care tasks: Care-task windows now scroll, allowing caregivers on smaller screens or using larger text to reach the Notes field and finish clocking out.
